Esteemed trumpeter Sarah Kramer has teamed with AlyssaBeth K Archambault of Paniolo Productions to present a special fundraising concert that will bring together two of LA’s most celebrated trios of musicians’ musicians — Jackshit and the Rick Holmstrom Band — as well as acclaimed children’s group Earthworm Ensemble.

The three bands will perform at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 4, to benefit the launch of Sacred Garden Playgroup.

Jackshit, with whom Kramer frequently plays as a “Sh*t Horn” at their sold-out gigs at the Baked Potato in North Hollywood and McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, have earned raves for their “string-bendin’, skin-poundin’” hillbilly gospel. They also enjoy near-cult status in LA thanks to the exceptional musicianship (and unpredictable humor) of bassist Davey Faragher, guitarist Val McCallum and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame drummer Peter Thomas.

Rick Holmstrom’s trio, who backed Kramer on her 2013 album Home, have earned reams of praise over the past seven years for their dynamic grooves on the road and in the studio behind Grammy-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and gospel-soul legend Mavis Staples. Holmstrom’s thrilling Telecaster leads combine with the soulful rhythms of drummer Stephen Hodges and bassist/slide guitarist/saxophonist Jeff Turmes for a ballsy, eclectic sound that transcends their deep blues roots whether they’re jamming on originals or transforming covers by the likes of Duke Ellington and Hank Williams.
